Morning Glory
This is interesting and a mistake at the same time. The interesting part is that this morning glory has two types of flower on one vine as you can see by my pictures.
The mistake is that I planted it in a pot to vine on the post that holds up the cover on the deck. During the last few days with the tempatures in the 90s it uses up all the water that I give it the night before before I get home from work to water again.
The last pic was taken 08/05 and you can see how big it has gotten already. But it doesn't have a lot of blooms yet. It could be more blooms will be setting on soon or the fact that it is in a pot and doesn't get all the water it needs daily might keep it from blooming more. Will wait and see.

I am wondering how your morning glory is holding up. My moon flower is doing terrible.. I have to water it 4-5 times a day to keep it alive with the heat.. I would def. go home to water my plants.. lucky I work nights, so they don't need it then.. Thanks for adding my blog.. I will add you when I get mine up and going..
Cliff, It well have many more flowers when the weather cools a little. I haven't seen a morning glory sport (to send of a different flower) before but that certainly doesn't mean that it couldn't happen. I love them. This year I planted cardinal climber ( in the morning glory family) and love it. Save the seeds for next year. Morning glory seeds stay viable for up to 50 years.
I look forward to seeing it take off in sept.

p.s. did you know that sweet potatoes are in the morning glory family, but yams are not.
Jane - If my reading between the lines is accurate it says you want to come be the water girl!?!? That would be nice!!
Dirty - my moon flower is doing good it is almost covering the arbor. Will be posting pictures soon. Well when we get a new monitor. The other one bit the dust. Too much blogging probable!!
Bob - I planted the cardinal climber in a pot last year and wasn't pleased with it. But I might try it again in the ground. Didn't know there was a difference in a sweet potato and yam. That would be an interesting triva guestion!!
Cliff, I've never grown a morning glory whose leaves didn't wilt during the day while I was at work. As Bob said, they do best when the weather is cooler. Otherwise I think you'd have to stand by it with a watering can at the ready all day!
Lost Rose - Thanks for the reassurance that I am not neglecting my morning glory.
Cliff, In looking at your morning glory it looks like very healthy. If you give it a bloomboster fert. one with little or no nitrogen in it will help flush our some flowers. The fert. should be 0-25-10 something like that. Mix it half strength. Just like dahlias and many other plants, if they get a well rounded fert. ( one with N-P-K) this time of year they put it all into foliage with little to no flowers. Hope you don't mind the suggestion.

Thanks Bob, I will give that a try. I know more of the flowers could use the boost. We are going to have a birthday party in September so that should make them all look good.
I grew that type of morning glory last year.It was a slow grower then exploded into growth and totally covered my seven foot arch.
Thick growth and lots of striking pink flowers.In Queensland,Australia they consider it a noxious weed!

I have the same problem with my vine, but keep forgetting to water it in the morning AND evening. I see that you have gotten involved in buidling projects as well. We just ordered a lot of rocks to work on the flowerbed near the patio. That should be "fun". I am sure I will like the result though. Take good care Andrea
No advice here... just wanted to say that I wish I could get my hands on a pretty hot pink morning glory like that. Beautiful. :)

I grew that one last year and think it is a show stopper.
I grew this one, too...the leaves seemed to wilt in the sun even when it has plenty of water, kinda like my jewelweed/impatiens does. It grew like crazy, and I hope it re-seeds cuz' I'm digging the blooms!
